Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Incase ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Incase mobile application (the "App") or visit incasegps.app (the "Website"). The App is designed without accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated app servers. We do not receive or maintain a database of your location. The Website uses Plausible Analytics for privacy-focused, aggregate traffic measurement as described below.
1. App Information We Do Not Collect
The Incase App does not collect or send us:
- Your GPS coordinates, saved pins, or recorded tracks
- Your street address, intersection, or compass heading
- Your name, email address, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers
- Analytics, behavioral profiles, or advertising data
- Payment card details or Apple ID credentials
We do not operate an app backend, user-account system, analytics pipeline, or advertising network.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The App processes live GPS, compass, altitude, and motion-derived travel-mode information on your device. If you choose to save a pin or record a track, that content is stored locally in the App's documents directory. A track may include coordinates, timestamps, and elevation readings. An in-progress track is periodically saved locally so it can be recovered after an interruption.
You can edit or delete saved pins and tracks in the App. Removing the App also removes its locally stored data, subject to standard iOS backup and restore behavior.
3. Location Permissions and Background Recording
Incase requests location permission to show your current position and related features. The App may request "Always" location access only after you choose to record a track. This lets an active recording continue while the screen is locked or another app is in use. Background location updates are enabled only while track recording is active and are disabled when you stop recording.
You can change location access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Incase.
4. Apple System Services
Some features use Apple frameworks that may send a location-based request directly from your device to Apple:
- Core Location and Apple's geocoding service provide location and address results.
- MapKit searches for intersections, police stations, fire departments, hospitals, and directions.
- StoreKit and the App Store load products, verify purchases, and manage subscriptions.
Those communications are handled by Apple and are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Incase does not receive or log those requests. Incase does not send precise coordinates to a developer-operated or non-Apple elevation service.
5. Copy, Share, Call, and Directions
When you use Copy, location text is placed on the system clipboard. When you use Share, Call, or Directions, iOS or your selected app receives the information needed to perform the action. These actions occur only when you initiate them. The recipient app's own privacy terms apply.
6. In-App Purchases
All purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details or Apple ID credentials. The App reads StoreKit entitlement status on your device to determine whether premium features are available.
7. App SDKs and Website Analytics
The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. The App does not sell or share personal information for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising.
The Website uses Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic. Plausible does not use cookies or persistent identifiers and does not track visitors across websites, devices, or days. It measures limited information such as the page visited, referral source, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate geography. Plausible states that raw IP addresses and full user-agent strings are not stored and that analytics data is aggregated. We use these measurements to understand which Website pages are useful, not to build individual profiles or serve advertising.
8. Data Retention and Security
We retain no server-side App user data because we do not receive it. Locally saved pins, tracks, settings, and recovery data remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App. Their protection relies on iOS security, device access controls, encryption, and any iCloud or device-backup settings you enable. Aggregate Website analytics are processed by Plausible under its data policy.
9. Children's Privacy
Incase does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we operate no account or app data-collection service, we have no server-side child profile or location history.
10. Your Rights
We do not hold server-side personal data to access, correct, sell, or delete. You control the App's local content through its pin and track management tools and through iOS storage and permission settings. Questions can be sent to the address below.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when the App's features or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and make the revised policy available in the App or on our website.
